Art Sculpting 2)

Sculpting

Today most of the kids in group b have finished their first project and are up to sketching there second one. For our first period in there we got to sand and smooth out our Korus.
I got to round up my Koru and then use two different types of sand paper to smooth it out and make it look better. During this period we get to sketch another project out that we can do for last period or we can either finish of our first one if we still need to. We originally have our big sketch which is going to be done once we have fully learnt al the skills properly. It might not be till next week when we will start our main one we focus on and take our time on.

Art Sculpting 1)

Sculpting

For the first period today in Art sculpting we did some research on the meanings of our drawings and looking at other drawing. The second period we did the same and also blogged about some of the work we had done the previous week. The fourth period of doing Art we finally got time to work on our designs. Most of us started rounding and putting some definitions in out Koru to make it look more realistic. We also got taught the different types of Koru and patterns we could do. Then finally for the fifth period we got a bit more time to finish what we could off and do a few more finishing touches then the rest of the period we spent it blogging. Being able to work and learn new things was a great experience.

LILY, the caretaker's daughter, was literally run off her feet. Hardly has she brought one gentleman into the little pantry behind the office on the ground floor and helped him off with his overcoat than the wheezy hall-door bell clanged again and she had to scamper along the bare hallway to let in another guest. It was well for her she had not to attend to the ladies as well. But Miss Kate and Miss Julia had thought of that and had converted the bathroom upstairs into a ladies' dressing-room. Miss Kate and Miss Julia were there, gossiping and laughing and fussing, walking after each other to the head of the stairs, peering down over the banisters and calling down to Lily to ask her who had come.

Something else then shines in her other it's a dagger dripping from it is blood. I have no idea what to do, should I hide or try and find out what she has taken.

I think for a second and realise it's better if I hide for now then follow her once she has gone past me so she thinks nobody is near. As she runs past I quickly follow not long after her. I follow her down dark alleys down streets full of destroyed homes.

After a little while she comes to a stop. She stops in front of a old wooden home, it looks like it has tried to be repaired or fixed. Not very good though. I peak through the windows as she heads inside seeing only dark. Ten minutes past as she has lit some candles. I watch to see her pull out a the biggest diamond I have ever seen in my life. It's shining in the light and sparkling lighting up the whole house. It's beautiful.

Finally I decide to leave and realise that I shouldn't get involved in case I put my own life in risk of getting hurt or stolen. There's only one thing I think I can do, leave it to the authorities.

Unexpected Wealth

Unexpected Wealth
As I look through the garage, doing a huge tidying up and getting rid of unwanted things. I spot heaps and heaps of boxes cluttered on top of each other. It's taken me about and hour and I've only just finished cleaning up half of it.

I headed inside to grab a drink and some lunch before I head back out to finish the rest of it off for the night. After making some food I turned on the T.v. Sitting there for about 20 minutes I ate all my food then took my drink outside.

As soon as I walked into the garage I decided I'd start on the boxes so I could put them at the bottom of rubbish bin. After going through piles and piles, I came across a box I could barely even carry. It seemed like a huge rock had just fallen on my arms. I placed the box next to for the meantime and tidied the rest of the garage up.

Finally everything was tidy and I just had one box left sitting in the middle of floor. I walked towards it and opened it. What I found inside was so crazy, I couldn't believe it.

$40,000! I mean 40,000 fricken dollars!!!! So many things were going through my head. What was I going to do with it? Where did it come from?
I stopped for minute just to get  my head straight and think about all the things I could do with it.

My last thought was.... Will whoever left it, try and get it back.

Missing Letter Writing
Include Unicorn, Toad and Sword

Missing Letter Writing:
As I walk through the forest I heard a sound  from behind me, as I turn around I realise it was just a Toad. For some reason it hid the tracks that my shoes left behind. For some odd reason it stopped and stared at me for a while. I didn't know what to think, apart from the Toad was really odd and different than other Toads.

After about five minutes it ran away. I continued down my path that I take daily trying to find stuff that interest me. While I trotted down the path I once again, stopped to see what was ahead of me. I walked a little closer to see what I could see and it almost looked unreal. I knew I hadn't seen it before and it shocked me. I thought for a second and then walked closer and closer till I was almost inches away from it.

Once I observed it for a bit I realised it was, a sword. It shone in the sun. I went to pick it up but as I did something came up behind me and stopped me. I turned around and to my surprise I saw a Unicorn standing there. It wasn't a normal Unicorn it was all black with blue eyes. It was very odd.

Finally I woke up and realised it was all just a dream.

Horror Camping Trip

Horror Camping Trip:
We were all just having a great time, trying to spooking each other and tell each other secrets. I couldn't believe what she told us none of us could. Most of us tried to brush it off and continue on for an hour or two before heading to bed.

I was sharing a tent with Paige the girl who revealed her deepest and darkest secret. I guess you could say I was spooked by what she had said and that I didn't wanna share a tent with her. After talking with her for awhile we both decided we would go to sleep. Once I shook off my fears and the horrible thoughts going through my head I gradually fell asleep

I think it was 3 hours into my sleep when I got woken up by some strange noise. I listened carefully for about 10 minutes, it came and then faded away. Strangely enough it sounded like a little girl crying. I wondered if it was one of the other girls that were camping with us but this sounded like it was a 6 year old, not some 16 year old teenager. I peeped out my tent and saw nothing but darkness. I grabbed a flashlight and made my way out of the tent.

Once I was skipping around the camping spot I came to a stop when I saw a white figure it looked like a little just kneeling down. She wasn't facing my way but facing the trees. I froze for a second. I thought to myself was what Paige told us coming true. I had to go tell the others, as I ran back to their tents I heard laughing behind me and footsteps getting faster and faster. I suddenly reached the boys tent and I opened it up. They woke up with such shocked impressions across there faces.

They didn't know what was going on, but they knew by my face that something was wrong. After five minutes of getting my head together and gathering things up properly. I had told everyone what I saw. Most of them believed me apart from Alex. He thought I had gone insane.

Most of us got barely any sleep, so for the rest of the night we played cards and drunk hot chocolate. When morning came a few of us went and searched the area in case we could find something that would give us an idea of what had happened.

Hours go by and nothing was found so we decided to gather up our gear and chuck things into our truck. When everything was gathered we took off on the road.

Tomorrow when the War Began Chp Sixteen

Chapter Sixteen

What is the Hermit's mother in law's attitude toward him as seen in her letter?
Hermit's mother in law thinks and knows the same thing that I thought, she has a feeling and knows that her wouldn't hurt his own Wife and Child.
What does this suggest in the way the Hermit's family actually died?
It suggest that something isn't right at all, because we know that the Hermit did not kill his own family and it's pretty strange the town wanted to blame it on the Hermit. So maybe the town had something to do with it.
What makes Ellie change her mind about Lee on the way back from the Hermit's Hut?
Ellie realised that she does have love and affection for Lee.

Tomorrow when the War Began Chp Fifteen

Chapter Fifteen

What do Ellie and Lee find in Hermit's hut that the others don't know about?
Ellie and Lee find a box that has letters and notes inside describing some of the Hermit's life and giving you information about him.
According to the coroner's report what are the two possible ways the Hermit's family died?
One of the possible ways they could've passed away is from burning in a bush area, the second one is that Hermit had shot them.
Which do you believe? Why?
I believe that they had burned in a bush fire. I don't think that the Hermit would of killed his own family. Also people could just started a rumor about him being a murderer and it just grew bigger each time someone was told.

Tomorrow when the War Began Chp Thirteen

Chapter Thirteen

All the teenagers have a specific role to play in their group. Describe what role each teenager plays.
Homer is basically a leader to the group, as he has made a lot of decisions that have benefited the group. Ellie gives good ideas and is counted as a secondary leader but sometimes she gets very distracted from her thoughts overcoming her. Fi helps the group with understanding the communication. Lee will rarely give any input to the group but when she does she gives ideas that help support other ides. Corrie's just perfect in most peoples eyes, shes bright bubbly and an outgoing person. Chris has only given a few good ideas but he isn't someone that you can rely on all the time.
According to what the teenagers hear on Corrie's radio, why would America be best not to get involved in Australia's struggle?
Because if America was involved in would just make the war even bigger than it is and more people would be killed.
Why is Australia being invaded?
Australia is very blessed with what it has, so unlike many other countries it's like it's being asked to be invaded.
A reader can infer many things from the snippet of news heard over Corrie's radio. Which Country or Countries are likely to invade Australia?
I feel that America or some other countries close to Australia have been the ones to invade it because of wanting more land or more power.
How are the prisoners being treated?
The prisoners are treated better than most so called 'prisoners' would normally be. They are being feed and provided somewhere to sleep and aren't being tortured or hurt, so I think they are being treated fair.
What do Kevin and Robyn argue about? Do you think Robyn's points are fair?
Kevin and Robyn argue about the intruders that are invading there countries. Robyn's point of view is more understanding and clearly thought about compared to Kevin's. As Kevin's thought of the invaders is less thought about.
"Paradise of Hell" is an Oxymoron. What does it mean?
The name Paradise of Hell has a lot of meaning to it. In the beginning of the book 'Hell' was a place nobody wanted to be, but  now all of a sudden it's paradise compared to whats outside.
Kevin's hatred of the invaders s quite extreme. Why do you think he is so angry?
Who wouldn't be angry that there country is being invaded and has ruined there life incredibly. He's probably stressed about his family members. He has every right to be angry that someone has taken there family away and changed their life.
The group takes turns discussing the extent to which they'd go to make a difference. Order the characters by the order of  there commitment to overthrowing the enemies.
1)Kevin       2)Ellie       3)Homer       4)Corrie       5)Robyn       6)Lee       7)Fi
The group is starting to think about long term survival in Hell. What are some clues to this?
That there life in Hell is going to be better than having to stay outside and risk getting captured.
What does the group decide they must do at this point?
They've all decided that there best option is going to e living inside of Hell for awhile or at least till things blow over, if they do. They are also going to keep track on the showground and what happens there.
Despite the fact that the teenagers are in the midst of a war zone, evading enemy soldiers and planning guerrilla operations, the still find time to harbor romances. Do you think this is realistic?
Yea I think it is realistic because many things happen when you become a teacher. Emotions constantly change and interfere everyday.

Tomorrow when the War Began Chp Twelve

Chapter Twelve

"They say teenagers can sleep all day". Is this true? Do you agree? Does Ellie still see herself as a typical teenager?
In some cases this can be true teenagers can sleep all day but it depends on what they've done. Say if they've been awake all night keeping a look out then yes they will sleep all day to catch up on the sleep they missed. I don't think Ellie see's herself as a typical teenagers because of all the things she has gone through with her friends, I mean I wouldn't.
Ellie's dream at the beginning of the chapter is rather nonsensical, as dreams are won't to be. Is there any meaning of it? Try is explain what Ellie's subconscious could be thinking about: Why is her dad cooking for the whole town? Why did father Cronin ignore Ellie's greeting? Why was Corrie 8 years old again? Why were they sailing off on a boat? Why was Lee undressing?
I think that there is a lot of meaning to Ellie's dream. Mostly her backtracking and being confused on some of the things she saw and that had happened to her. I think Corrie was 8 years old in her dream, because Ellie wish's she could go back to that age were her and Corrie were, where there was no war, no stress and no having to be where she is now. Ellie and the others sailing off in a boat is a way of them getting away being away from all the mess and all the war that is going on. The last thing about Lee getting undressed, may be that way she see's Lee, as we know she has feelings towards him but she also sees him very romantically and in a sexual way.
Why is it so terrible that Chis falls asleep while on sentry duty? How does Ellie react? Why do you think she reacts this way?
Chris falling asleep is horrible if I'm being honest, if something bad had happened it would've been his fault because he was not awake to alarm the others that danger was coming. Ellie's very upset and mad because she know that there could have been consequences for them all.
Back in Hell, Ellie's dreams are far more ominous. Explain why Ellie is dreaming of her fears.
So many things have happened to Ellie in such a small time, things she would have never thought she would have to see or deal with at least not at this age, her fears are starting to show through her dreams because her mind is making her think of all evil things that can happen or could happen.

Tomorrow when the War Began Chp Eleven

Chapter Eleven

How does Ellie feel as she is waiting in the truck at the council depot? Where does her emotions come from?
Ellie had mixed emotions but was mainly feeling fear. Her emotions came from Love, this meant heaps to Ellie because the love she had for her friends determined so much.
Why are the girls smiling when in danger? Is this a logical response?
The girls smile when there's danger because it's like a way of keeping calm, also because they know that they do have each other to always have their back. Having that sense of knowing someone is also their for you makes you feel happy and somewhat safe.
What does wearing a helmet and buckling up to the girls mean?
It means that if they are wearing a helmet and have their seat belts on they'll be more safer and secure inside the car than they were before.
What does Chris's story say about the town?
It basically is saying that a lot has happened since Commemoration Day and so many things out of the blue have just shown up and now there's a war.
What impact does the BMW have on the story? Does Chris seem lonely? Explain your answer?
The BMW has a huge impact on the story that only Chris was able to think off. If they hadn't of left it there it would've lead to more clues and more suspicion to the kids. I don't think Chris is lonely I just think he is more smarter or more of a quicker thinker that some of the others.
What is Homer's explanation for the need to swap cars at Chris Lang's place? What does this show about the way he is thinking?
It was very smart and showed that he is a quick thinker and very helpful for everyone else he is around. It shows that he acknowledges his surroundings and fully takes in everything before just making a choice.
What are your thoughts on the story so far?
I'm really enjoying it so far. I find so much about it interesting, for example how things happen out of the blue or how fast the have to think and work together as a team. Also the story makes you want more and want to read more because you never know what is going to happen next.

Tomorrow when the War Began Chp Ten

Chapter Ten

Why does Homer insist on going on with the plan after Corrie's house blows up? How does he convince Ellie that this is a good idea?
He insist because it's probably the most smartest idea, making the soldiers think they're dead. He convinced her by bringing up Lee and Robyn asking if she wants them back safe.
Describe the strategy Homer and Ellie use to ensure their safety when riding their bikes into town. What does this show about how they are starting to think?
The first strategy they used was to hold onto each others hand for awhile then let go because it would give them more speed. The last strategy they used was once they got pretty close to Robyn's house, was to get off there bikes so it made less noise and also because if something was to come they'd be able to run away quicker.
Why do you think Mr Clement is reluctant to help Lee and Robyn? How would you react in this position?
I think he was reluctant to help them because if there was some sort of trouble he would get involved and get caught, which would mean he wouldn't be able to help and be there for his family anymore. If this was me I would probably help as much as I could but also remember that I have my own family and myself to look after.
How has Homer changed in Ellie's eyes since the invasion?
Instead of Homer being a trouble Maker and not really helping out he has stepped up a lot and shown that he can be a leader and work together to survive.
What are the 2 different types of soldiers and how do they each treat the inhabitants of Wirrawee?
There are two different types of soldiers; Professionals and the ones that were only there to make up numbers.
Why do you think Robyn had the strength to carry Lee?
I think Robyn found the strength and got a sudden rush, she knew she and to help Lee out and that was the smartest and quickest idea which helped her out.
How have the group decided to rescue Lee, whose idea was this and why do they think it'll work?
They have decided to help her by putting her in some sort of trolley for awhile because it'll be the quickest way to get Lee to safety. Eventually they realized that they had to come up with a better idea to get them all back together so they used a digger to hold her in and carry her back to safety.
Why do you think happened to people who 'tried to be heroes'?
I think that if you tried to be heroes and save others they would see you as some type pf threat and just kill you.

Tomorrow when the War Began Chp Eight

Chapter Eight

How does Ellie feel about the lawn mower incident?
Ellie feels really disappointed and disgusted in herself that she could actually do that to people, that she didn’t even know.
How does she think the others will react to her story when she tells it?
She was afraid and stressed out because she thought they might judge or attack her.
How do they actually react? Why?
They are really caring towards Ellie and supportive because they know that, that was the only way they could survive.
Homer says, "This is war now, normal rules don't apply... They're the ones who tore up the rule book, not us"What does this say about his character? What do you think of the validity of his options?
It says that he doesn’t blame or judge her because they all have to do what they need to survive. Also we can tell that he plays fair.
Fi talks about the 'Shadows', during their reconnaissance. What are these shadows and what are the implications due to their existence?
The shadows are people but since Fi wasen’t able to see them fully she had called them shadows, she also knew that they weren’t soldiers they were people like Ellie and her group.
What pieces of evidence from the book inform the reader that this invasion wasn't entirely peaceful?
Maybe the fact that there was so many places that had been ruined, or the fact that some streets had a lot of blood on the roads and walls. Also because as soon as the soldiers heard something they would shoot.

Tomorrow when the War Began Chp Nine

Chapter Nine

Why, in Ellie's opinion, is Cobbler's Bay and Wirrawee so important to invaders?
It’a very important because Wirrawee is a very quiet place and she thinks that they are using it for that reason and using it as a way to work there way to the rest of the Countries. Cobbler’s Bay is important because you can barely see shops of other things in the ocean so she thinks that there could be a lot of ships from the invaders.
Corrie and Ellie reminisce about how innocent they were in high school and even a  few days ago? Why were they still innocent then? Why are they no longer innocent?
Corrie and Ellie think this because during High School they didn’t do anything bad, but since the invaders they have stolen, killed and done more things that they would never do.
Why does Homer think splitting up is a good idea?
He thinks that if they split up and at least half of them get caught then the other half will still be safe or still be able to firgure out what’s going on.
Why do you think the author added the few lines about an Australian jet flying overhead?
To show that is is Australia that has been involved in the war and that they are trying to fight back.
By blowing up Corrie's house, what does the invading force demonstrate to the teenagers?
It demonstrates to the teenagers that they will destroy anything that may be in there way.
Why do you think Corrie reacted the way she did?
She reacted this way because it was her home being destroyed right in front of her, it was the place she grew up in and made so many memories.

Tomorrow when the War Began Chp Seven

Chapter Seven

Which people in the group are starting to stand out as leaders, is this surprising? Why/why not?
Ellie and Hunter. I don't think it's that surprising because Ellie has always shown the group that she is more of a leader, but with Homer it is because he is goofy and seems like he would just muck around but he has really stepped up and changed.
Do you think that taking Kevin's dog flip to Corries house was a mistake?Explain thoughts
Yes I think it is because if any of the soldiers go looking in the houses they may realise that the dog has moved houses, so that lets the soldiers know people are out there for the dog to have been moved.
What does Lee mean when he says ´we might have to make some ugly choices?´
Lee means that they will have to make sacrifices during the time they are together, even if it causes harm.
How is Ellie´s image of Kevin changing in this chapter?
Ellie is beginning to see Kevin as more of someone who is useful and nice. Other than him being a sports jock and some arrogant person.
Is the decision to split into smaller groups and good decision? Give reasons
In some situations if you split into groups it can help and get things done quicker. If that was me I wouldn't of split into groups because of what has happened to Lee and Robyn.
Why is it that Ellie´s group decides to act ´illogical´ and survey the showgrounds together?
Ellie thinks that it's a good idea because if they are all together nobody is able to get lost.
Why does the idea of a female soldier surprise Ellie?
This could be because she thinks that to be a soldier you have to be male or maybe because she is only use to seeing male soldiers. So when she sees on it surprises her.
If your parents were captured in a situation like this, would they have been ´sensible´ or would they have been violent?
I think that my mum would have sensible and thought which would be the best way to handle the situation.
How is Ellie ´transformed´ once she steps out from behind a tree near the showgrounds?
When Ellie was behind the tree she was very thankful and affectionate of the tree because it was a very good way of hiding her and her friends. As soon as she steps away from the tree and something happens she starts panicking and getting stressed out with so much fear.
Ellie and Kevin´s quick-thinking allowed them to turn a ride-on lawnmower into a bomb. Was this moral behaviour? Did they do the right thing, or should they have surrendered themselves?
I really don't think that this is the best thing that they could of done. This is because they didn't know why the soldiers were there they just assumed that they were bad, but they could've just been protecting the people of Wirrawee.
Predict what you think has happened to Lee and Robyn.
I think that maybe they have gotten lost or caught up in some trouble.

Tomorrow when the War Began Chp Six

Chapter Six:

What is the first sign that something is wrong at Ellie's house?
That the dogs would normally bark when any car would pull up but there was no noise or movement at all.
Who is the first person to really realize that something is wrong?
Ellie
What is Ellie's reaction to this person's caution? Why do you think she reacts this way?
She instantly thinks that something bad has happened to the dogs. The reason I think she has reacted this way is because it just isn't how it normally is for her when she arrives home and just adds onto things that have already been strange.
How is the pace in this chapter different from chapter's before?
It's different because of how many things they get done and it's more organised in this chapter compared to the other chapters.
If you were in this situation, would you test the radio or not? Give reasons of your thinking.
I don't think I would in case something bad has happened and the radio could be used as a tracking device.
Do you think the way the teenagers reacted to the realisation that Austalia may have been invaded or at war was realistic? Why/why not?
I think in ways in could of been realistic like a war or another country invading them but not Aliens. It's because this is something that is likely to happen if things have turned out the way they have.
What possible reasons exist that could spark war or invasion of Australia?
That there was planes flying over them making loud noises and darkening the sky. Also how strange t is when they arrive home.

Tomorrow when the War Began Chp Five

Chapter Five:

What does Corrie's choice in career say about her character?
Corries choice in her career says that she is very caring and helpful towards others. It shows that she wants to help everyone in need and be able to support them.
The group's ability to avoid arguing with each other is rare- Do you think that there would have been more drama if you and your friends went bush for a week?
I don't think that if my friends and I went camping for a week that here would be any drama at all maybe just about where we are going to sleep but otherwise it would just be full of fun.
Why do you think Ellie and Lee feel uneasy just before there return to Wirrawee from the bush?
I think they feel uneasy because of the planes that flew of the while they were camping and the noise that came from them frightened them and they were worried something just wasn't  right.
What do you project will await the group back home, why do you think this?
I think that something could be wrong like the town has just turned into a ghost town or something, the reason I think this is because of reading how uneasy Ellie and Fi had felt about the planes flying over them and how odd it was.

Tomorrow when the War Began Chp Four

Chapter Four:

Do you think the way the handled the snake incident was appropriate? What could they have done differently?
I think it was appropriate and the most safest way they could have done it without getting hurt. Something they could have done differently though is maybe carry the sleeping bag outside and try to get the snake out with some food, so then the snake or them wouldn't be hurt.
Ellie claims that 'Hell' is only a label and that people label things all the time, often ignoring or overlooking certain labelled places or things. She then comes to the conclusion that 'Hell was people'. Is she right? What's your opinion, on labelling and Hell?
In certain ways she is right because a lot of people do jsut label things and come up with names without understanding or knowing anything about what the thing really is, like 'Hell'. I think maybe they named it Hell because to some people it just looked scary and something that terrified them.
What was especially peculiar about the planes that flew over Hell? 'Their -----, Their -----, their ----- frighting me.' Do these characteristics have any significance?
Something strange about the planes were the speed they were going and how dark they were. Ellie explains that it's not normal to see planes at hat speed and how they sound to be in Wirrawee so it gave her a feeling that something must be wrong. The give a strong meaning to the reader because it tells us that Ellie is feeling uncomfortable and worried about the planes and that she has a gut feeling something could be wrong.
Corrie and Kevin are the only couple in the group, but the trip was bound to bring friends closer. So why does Homer interest in Fi seem so odd to Ellie?
She finds it odd because of how different they are compared to each other, and how Homer presents himself as very annoying and a bit up himself. Another reasons is also because Home doesn't really pay attention to any girls in person or even bother with girls until now.
Fi brushes off the planes coming back from Commemoration Day. Why do you think the planes were flying over Wirrawee?
I think it could just be for the show or that something terrible must be happening.
Robyn claims there were dozens and dozens of planes flying over them. What is Lee's response? Is his suggestion reasonable?
Lee's response is that he is suggesting that it could be the start of World War Three. I think his suggestion is reasonable because that could be likely to happen because of how strange it is to see that many planes flying across the skies of Wirrawee.
