Perfect Holiday 2021

 Perfect Holiday 2021 - Tourism

Image result for map of america

For my perfectly holiday I want to travel around America and visit every different state. I've chosen America because since I was younger I always wanted to visit and go on many different theme parks that America offers. I also would like to visit any natural or historical places as well. To visit America I will need my passport and I may also need to apply for a visa before leaving. Although The Visa Waiver program allows a New Zealand resident to visit America up to 90 days with out a visa. I will start off my trip by travelling from New Zealand Wellington to California, total costing me $3,017.

When I visit these states I have planned to go to Universal Studios, Disneyland, Walt Disney and many more including water parks as well. New Zealand doesn't really offer parks like America. For some natural places I want to visit are Yellowstone National Park and Grand Canyon these are the main places I want to visit. I have included some pictures below. For some of my time I will be staying at the Amusement parks that offer hotels and sometimes when visiting Historical places I will be staying at local Hotels but only the 5 star ones. I will be travelling each state by plane but going to different theme parks or event by the car I would have hired out such as a Jeep.

If I was to take people I would take my family and friends. The reason for this is so they get to experience this with me and I think it will also be fun if I had people I know around me. If I take three people including myself then I will just need to triple the price I wont worry about getting deals since I have an unlimited budget. For the times that we don't have anything to do I will take everyone on a shopping spree and buy heaps of things and get gifts for family back at home.

In conclusion I think my trip would be filled with heaps of fun and lots of laughter. It will definitely cost a lot but that's the point of the trip.

Be Assertive Learning Review

Be Assertive Learning Review

During the last few weeks of English our class has been learning about behavioral responses. Some of these responses are Assertive, Passive,  Indirect and Aggressive. This is a review for preparation for our assessment.

Questions

1. What are four types of behavioral responses, and what does each one mean?

-Passive is not saying anything and staying quite.

-Indirect is getting someone else to speak for you and not yourself getting your own point across.

-Aggressive is to answer back in a tone were someone may feel attacked and uncomfortable with the tone you are using.

-Assertive is the most appropriate way to speak to someone because there isn't a tone and its mainly formal when wanting to get a point across.

2. What is the definition of Assertive Communication?
The definition of Assertive Communication is using the correct formal language and tone when speaking to someone weather it be a report or when talking to them face to face.

3. What are the three 'describes'? When should you use them?
The three describes are Situation, Feelings and Changes. You should use them when you are being assertive.

4. List and explain 5 of the 'Assertive Communication Tools'. Think of your own for each example

-Be positive- Always be positive when you're communicating with someone.

-Thank them- Show appreciation and Thank the person for helping you.

-Ask for their help- Remember that if you are not sure you can ask for help from others.

-Focus- Focus on the situation and give it your attention when being assertive.

-Go for agreement- Find something that both of yous can agree on.

5. List and explain in your own words 3 barriers to assertive communication

-Cultural can be a barrier because some men believed that a women shouldn't have a say or that their opinion doesn't matter. Some cultures also put women in a lower position than men because they think men deserve a higher position.

-Gender is a barrier because men can find it a lot easier to communicate with other men at work because its a lot easier to get along with them. Whereas they might find it harder to talk to women because they feel they could be hassling them.

-Age is a barrier because elder people still believe that they have a higher right than people who may be younger than them. They can also find that younger people may be rude and impolite to them.

6. What does assertive communication LOOK like?

Having strong body posture and not having and non assertive body gestures.

7. What does assertive communication SOUND like?

Assertive communication sounds like having a calm voice and not using any tone when your trying to get your point across to the other person.

8. What does it mean to act like a scratched record when it comes to your boundaries?

It means that you always say no and repeat yourself so that the person gets it and understands you don't want to do whatever they may be asking you to do.

9. Think back to a time when you or friend used a behavioral response that was not assertive. What type was it? What did you say? What happened as a result? What could you have done differently?

The behavioral response was indirect. When it came to needing to talk I didn't say anything and was closed off. The result was the situation didn't get resolved and it made tension occur. Next time I could be assertive and communicate so that the problem was resolved.

10. Reflect on your behavioral responses until now. How do you usually respond to tricky situations? Do you want to change the way you respond, moving forward? What will you try to remember for future situations?

Now with situations I respond with being Assertive but sometimes I respond Aggressive because I don't know how to handle the situation at times. I want to make sure that I'm Assertive all the time because it's a way better response. In future situation I will remember to consider both feelings from both people.

2.2 Art Work

2.2 Art Work

In English we are currently working on our 2.2. 2.2 is to show a different series of work and the progress we have gone through. The first few sketches are for exploring our Kaupapa. The next series are for our detailed drawings that are in more depth. The last set of slides is for our finalised pieces of art that is finished.

I have finished my sketches which are exploring my Kaupapa and I have also finished my finalised ones. At the moment I still have to do one more in depth picture. For my last piece I am going to do an in more depth painting either in water colour or in acrylic paint. This is going to be based on my landscape sketches. The series I have used a re the ones that have been previously shown in my other blog posts.

Reduce of plastic waste 2020
New scheme

Dear Customers and Suppliers

As a company we have come up with a new scheme that will help reduce the use of plastic waste packaging in our store. One of our main focuses is to stop putting plastic into our landfills; biodegradable/degradable plastic bags and bottles will only break down in certain conditions, which isn’t a long term solution. We invite customers to be a part of our new scheme, working together with our customers as a community to change the way everyday products are being bought. We welcome feedback to improve our new scheme.

Some of the changes that are going to be applied:

1) All plastics bags are now replaced with hessian bags (made from flax and hemp fibres). First bag is free with orders over $50. Otherwise we provide recycled cardboard boxes (help carry out to your car).

2) Most liquid products (liquid soap, shampoo, dish washing liquid, etc) now available in ‘fill your own’ containers. Bring your own container to fill and get a 5% discount.

3) Fresh vegetables - instead of plastic bags, try reusable waxed cotton bags to keep the food fresh.

Stanley Organics Ltd. thank you for your ongoing support and we hope to see you all soon.

Regards,
Barry and Judith Sampson

Fire Evacuation Procedure

From: Meg Carter

To: All Staff Members

CC: Manager

Date: 11 August 2020

Subject: Fire evacuation procedure

Hi everyone,

I have noticed recently during our fire drills there has been some confusion on what to do when the alarm goes off and where to assemble once you are all outside. This email is to clear everything up and to make sure everyone is insured safe. Please follow these instructions below for safety reasons.

1.When the alarm sounds every staff member must exit the building.

2.Once outside of the building assemble at the main car park.

3.Do not wander off anywhere else for Coffee etc.

4.You must remain in the car park until everyone has been given the clear by the Fire Safety Officer.

Also everybody needs to make sure there aren't any boxes, chairs and tables blocking the fire exits as there has been in the past. This makes sure everybody is safe and we know where everyone is at the same time so no further stress or confusion is caused. For any further questions, please contact me by email Megcarter@workplace.co.nz. Kind Regards, Meg Carter Administrator

Review Memo

Memorandum

To: Jenny McCabe, Supervisor
From: Harry Styles
Date: 31 July 2020
Re: Review on new recycling program

As requested below is an update on how the recycling program went over the period of time it was trialed. Below is a list of pros and cons of how it went.

-Most recycling bins are being used correctly and everything has been put in its appropriate place

-Feedback from most of the staff has been positive about the new system that has been put in place

-Some staff do find it a waste of time

-The food bin doesn’t get emptied enough and tends to smell over time

-There is some confusion about what types of plastic can be recycled

The trial worked sufficiently as most staff followed the rules and the feedback was positive. There were a few difficulties when it came to emptying the bins and how much time it took up having to separate the recycling. Overall it turned out well and worked how we wanted it to. One of the issues we can address is the food bins being emptied, this can be solved by scheduling staff members to empty the bins on certain days.
